InnerSloth Launches Among Us "Airship" Update - What's Next?

Among Us remains one of the most popular mobile games out there, and now it's making its presence felt on consoles and PCs. InnerSloth has released an all-new update called 'Airship'.

This update brings a new map and some great new features to the game, but even beyond that it helps to show that there's a real plan in place for where this game goes next. Whether you're interested in what's just been released or what might be coming, there's a lot to learn about the game by taking a look at the new update.

A Whole New Map

Perhaps the biggest part of this new update is the addition of the Airship map. This map, for which the update itself is named, is one of the biggest game-changers in the history of Among Us. Now that players have gotten used to the previous three maps, the Airship has the potential to breathe new life into the game.

New Actions and Activities

The Airship update is so much more than a new map, though. Among Us is finally bringing with it some new activities for players, making the game even more immersive. Even Impostors are getting in on the action with new ways to take out their targets. While trash emptying and jewel polishing might not be huge jumps in terms of mechanics or how players view the game, they do show that there's still a lot more that the InnerSloth team can do within the game as it currently stands.

Another way that the team is changing things up is by giving players new ways to start out their games. Players can now determine where they start the game and, perhaps most importantly, where they start after Emergency Meetings. These are new strategic choices that can be made by all the players in the game, which will add a few new wrinkles to every reset of play. This, coupled with the fact that players can now use new tools like moving platforms and ladders to move around, will change how players are able to move around the map.

Moving Into New Territory

All of these updates work together to show that InnerSloth is still playing around with a formula that has managed to become much more than meme-worthy material. It's surprising to note that nothing in the Airship update is really doing anything to alter the bones of the game - everything players are seeing are just natural outgrowths of things that were already present within the base game.

What's important to note, though, is that all of these changes help the game to keep moving forward as the developers become more ambitious with their goals for Among Us.

What the Future Holds

It's not that surprising that InnerSloth is already looking at the future. The most unsurprising bit of news is that the company is looking into creating bigger lobbies, allowing fifteen players to start the game at one time. This will not only have an impact on the size of the games that can be run, but it also points towards a desire to keep building bigger maps and experiences for players.

The company is also overhauling their art style, creating a design that's a little more fluid and that runs a little better. This is almost certainly due to the presence of the game on bigger screens now that players can access Among Us on consoles and PCs, but it does point towards a design philosophy that is very future-oriented.

In short, Among Us doesn't look like it is going anywhere any time soon. The Airship Update may have just dropped but plans are already in place to ensure that the game will keep being played for some time to come. Whether this means more maps, a bigger selection of roles or just more room to play around, it's nice to see that there are already plans for what Among Us could become.
