The Medium - New 14 Minute Gameplay Trailer Released

A One of a Kind Horror Game With Familiar Elements

The Medium - Bloober Team's upcoming psychological horror game - released a new 14 minute gameplay trailer. If the game is as promising as the trailer, this one is going to be a major hit when it's released on January 28, 2021.

New Gameplay Trailer

There is no question that the trailer shows off an exceptional looking game. Fans, of course, have been misled before, but if the trailer is accurate, they are in for a true treat. The graphics are striking. The butterfly that leads off the trailer looks so real that you half expect it to burst out of the screen. The close up of our main protagonist's eyes are gorgeous and haunting. The trailer also shows off a variety of richly layered sceneries, including eerie forests, overgrown scenic restaurants, and winding country roads that contain as much horror as they do tree branches.

The dual-reality nature of the game implies an exceptionally unique and creative experience for the player...

It also tells a frightening and jarring story of a Medium who can live through past memories, witnesses crimes, and reliving the horrific last moments of someone's life. The dual-reality nature of the game implies an exceptionally unique and creative experience for the player, and this experience is highlighted by a trailer that appears to show real gameplay of two worlds being experienced at the same time. This would make The Medium not only unique but a technological marvel - such an experience has never been utilized before.

The trailer thus helps to show off a remarkable feature of The Medium. It not only presents users with an engaging story and a graphical masterpiece, but it promises a brand new experience for anyone brave enough to download the game. The dual-realities concept is a fascinating one, as horrifying as it is exciting.

The Inspiration

It's worth noting that The Medium clearly draws its inspiration from two of its horror relatives: Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Both of these games pushed the boundaries of horror in new ways, using the genre to invent new gameplay mechanisms and interweave revolutionary gameplay with chilling narratives.

In some cases, the contributions are even more direct. Silent Hill was known for its jarring soundtrack and its composer, Akira Yamaoka also helped develop music for The Medium. This is a positive development, not only because of the talent of Yamaoka, but because it shows just how seriously Medium developer's take music. Horror games are only effective if they come with a chilling atmosphere, and it appears that The Medium is drawing from Silent Hill and Resident Evil's extensive contributions to this area to create a fantastic game.

Gameplay and What Fans Can Expect

There's no question about it - this one will break some ground. The nature of its gameplay and the technology now available to support it guarantee a fantastic experience and something brand new for those who are brave enough to try it.

The plot of the game is simple - you're a medium trying to solve a murder. The gameplay, of course, promises so much more. As the psychic Marianne, your job is to investigate a murder, but in two worlds: The physical and the spiritual. This leads to the player bouncing between both, and on some occasions, investigating both at the same time. This is a new gameplay method, and it will surely be jarring and disorienting. As such, players can unquestionably expect a new and disorienting experience. It will likely be difficult to learn and understand, given its newness. The mechanism holds tremendous potential for fighting, chase scenes, and puzzle solving, with the latter likely to be prominently featured in The Medium.

The Medium clearly has the potential to be a revolutionary game, like its inspirational predecessors, Silent Hill and Resident Evil.

No full-length gameplay features have been released yet. The reviews, thus far, are positive.  The devs at Bloober Team have extensive experience with developing horror games and have previously pushed the gaming experience via the development of new gameplay mechanisms. This, combined with the trailer, should leave users feeling confident.

The Medium clearly has the potential to be a revolutionary game, like its inspirational predecessors, Silent Hill and Resident Evil. Of course, it is also possible that this is a game mechanic that is ahead of its time. However, thus far, the news is good, and users may be in for an exceptional experience.
